Europe 2015: Let the Wine Love Flow!

2015 is proving to an extraordinary vintage across the European winescape. Here are a few prime examples (with a special mixed case offer at the end!)…
2015 CASALE DEL GIGLIO Cesanese
$15.95 bottle/ $153.00 case
Take it from me, you haven’t had near enough cesanese in your diet! That would be obvious if you, like me today, had just tried this mouthwatering, bouncy, elegant red from the Lazio region of Italy. The cesanese grape is indigenous to Lazio, and this is a beauty. Richly textured, layered on the palate and long on the finish, and with its fruit/acid balance (and modest 13% abv) I can tell it’ll be a brilliant food red. And this….
“Good bright dark red. Fresh aromas of red cherry, spicy plum, and fresh herbs. Sweet, round and elegantly styled, with good lift to the moderately ripe, peppery flavors of cherry and herbs. The finish is fresh, long, and clean, boasting good sweetness of fruit. Another remarkably well-made, balanced, easygoing wine from Casale del Giglio that is hard to resist. 90 points.” -Vinous

2015 BODEGAS GORMAZ Ribera del Duero “Catania”
$13.95 bottle/ $134.00 case
This is such a stellar buy in Spanish wine that oozes character, and is so drinkable and delicious right out of the bottle. 100% tempranillo that has loads of smoky black fruits, vivacious ripe berries, and wild herbs and a hint of minerality that come to the fore with each sip. A terrific wine that would be perfect with grilled sausages or a steaming pot of lamb & chorizo stew. Not so bad by itself, either, when just a nice glass of red wine is called for!

2015 CLOS DES LUMIERES Cotes du Rhone Villages
$13.95 bottle/ $134.00 case
A fabulous new vintage from one of our perennial Rhone Valley favorites find that lights up my palate every time I taste it. Deep purple colored, rich and ripe with character and intensity in spades with a full finish that echoes across your palate. I absolutely love this juice! Complex and robust, ready for steaming braises and meat off the grill. Like drinking in delicious mouthfuls of the gorgeous Provençal countryside. It always blows me away you can drink so well for so little from this gorgeous region!

2015 RENATO RATTI Barbera d’Asto “Battaglione”
$18.95 bottle/ $182.00 case
Give a pruducer known for producing great Barolos and Barberas a vintage like 2015, and you know good things are coming. This is textbook Barbera, with very pure cherry, spice, smoke, and earth aromas and flavors, with that bright cut and invigorating presence that the classic Asti Barberas are known for. When you have a Barbera addiction like I do, this is exactly the fix I need!
“Starts out with earthy aromas, then eases into black cherry, plum, earth and spice flavors. This is muscular and backed by dense tannins, with ample fruit on the finish. 91 points.” -Wine Spectator

EURO2015 CASE: A great vintage deserves its own case, so we have for you a mixed case of 3 bottles each of the above 4 wines for just $158 per case (13.16/bottle)!
