Sea Creatures Beware: Luneau-Papin Muscadet is here!!

2015 DOMAINE LUNEAU-PAPIN “Clos des Allés” Muscadet Sevre et Maine
$16.95 bottle/ $163.00 case

I am totally into it this gorgeous Loire Valley beauty made from 100% melon de bourgogne grapes. An all-stainless fermented, mouthwateringly dry & crisp, mineral-driven white that is perfect with fresh crab, oysters, and other shelled sea creatures. Last night at my house I grabbed two live crabs from ABC Seafood out on Powell, boiled them up, and threw together a killer fresh crab salad for dinner. And this wine, wow, THIS WINE WAS PERFECT! Luneau-Papin is a great winemaking family, their muscadet a benchmark of the appellation. You’ve got to treat yourselves here, because this is as good as these wines can get and is without question a personal fave of mine! Here’s a nifty 92 point Vinous review that says it all: “A pungent, zesty nose offers lime peel and green herbs with a hint of sea breeze. Tingling brightness of fresh lime and lemon are allied to a silken texture and a diversity of alkaline, saline, and stony mineral nuances, while a suffusion of green tea adds further intrigue to a buoyant, superbly lingering finish.”
